A-Z modules

After months working on custom tailored furniture and other tools for schools, I was able to participate on a project for mass production from concept to manufacturing. But more importantly it meant working on a product that would appeal to a broader user base and help boosting the implementation of ground-breaking teaching methodologies.

concept

After the bell rings dozens of kids leave their classrooms running through corridors, yards and staircases. In-between those minutes they meet friends, they chat, they share their lunch, they check their phones, they meet their teachers and exchange books, just before they go back in for another class.

There are simply hundreds of interactions that can happen on the path to our pre-scheduled commitments, whether at school, college or in a workplace and this line of products was created after observing those events and questioning how might we make them more meaningful and lasting.

designing from observation

From the research carried on the observation of those habits two modular furniture pieces we created: the A module and the Z module. They each consist of working and resting surfaces that can be aligned and combined to occupy the edges of corridors and other places.

A third set of furniture, the Pi bleachers were created to complement the line and expand it to wider places and more crowded gatherings.
